The article discusses the synthesis and characterization of 5‑(alkenyl)‑3‑aryl‑1,2,4‑oxadiazoles. The synthesis scheme includes two steps: preparation of the triphenylphosphonium chloride and its subsequent condensation with aldehydes. The synthesis conditions for the target products were improved by replacing the base. It increases their yields and allows previously synthetically inaccessible compounds obtaining. The ¹H NMR spectra of the products contain doublets characteristic of double‑bond protons with a coupling constant J = 16.1–16.4 Hz, indicating the E‑configuration of the obtained compounds. Fluorescent and antioxidant properties were found for compounds containing electron‑donating substituents.
