Synergistic or antagonistic effects of ionic (IS) and nonionic surfactants (NS) at various ratios was evaluated. The interaction of the surfactants was assessed by the following parameters: critical micelle concentration (CMC), surface activity, limiting adsorption at the phase interface, and molecular area. As a result, more polar nonionic surfactants (glycerol, PEG‑4000) have a stronger synergistic effect in the system with ionic surfactants. The obtained research results can be used in regulating the properties of water‑dispersion paint and coating materials.
surfactants, ionic surfactants, neoinogenic surfactants, synergetic effect, polarity, critical concentration of micelle formation, surface activity, adsorption.
Funding
The study was performed within the framework of the project ‘Modification of paint and varnish materials do not contain volatile organic compounds to improve technological and operational properties’ under the YSTU development program as part of participation in the Priority 2030 program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in 2026.
